Instructions of use for RfQ-standard-instruments
With purchasing this device you have made a decision in favour of a high quality instrument. To guarantee its proper function and safety for a long time, the following points should be observed carefully.
Bring into use for the first time
All RfQ-instruments are delivered in non-sterile condition and must be cleaned and sterilized before use. Exceptions are instruments with the label "sterile".
Inspection and functional check
It is very important to examine each instrument for breaks, cracks or malfunctions before use, carefully. Please take special care on critical places as blades, stops, locks, points and all movable parts. Insulations and cables should be checked on cracks or sharp bends. Do not use damaged instruments. Faulty instruments should be separated. Do not attempt to make repairs yourself. Refer questions about repair to the manufacturer. Repair by third parties voids guarantee and CE marking.
Storing
Surgical instruments must be stored in dry and clean environment without direct solar irradiation. Do not store instruments in other containers than stainless steel or aluminium. We recommend to lay down all instruments in their individual packing or in protective trays. Protect tips with cloth, gauze or tubes, while keeping the instruments in drawers.
Cleaning and Care Manual cleaning
All surgical instruments should be disinfected and cleaned immediately after use. Avoid drying blood and other debris on the instruments. Special care must be taken on slots, tubes, locks and inaccessible points. For cleaning we recommend soft brushes, standard solutions with tepid water. Follow the manufacturer's instructions of the cleaner, concerning concentration and duration. Instruments that can be taken apart, should be cleaned in disassembled state. Keep parts together and do not mix with other manufacturers. Follow the instructions for reassembling.
Some important points you should follow:
- Do not use corrosive cleaning agents. We recommend cleaning solutions and rinses with pH about 7,0
- Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Do not use brushes with hard bristles.
- Flush all inside channels and tubes, use small brushes (tube/bottle brushes)
- Use distilled water for rinsing only. Water with chloride contents may damage or even destroy surgical instruments.
- Do not leave instruments in cleaning or disinfecting solutions for long terms (over night or weekend). The instruments can be destroyed.
Machine cleaning
Ultrasonic cleaning is recommended. You should ensure that the instruments do not touch each other, to avoid damages. It is useful, to place instruments in suitable trays or racks. Loose connections caused by vibration must be retightened after ultrasonic cleaning. These instruments can be disinfected in washing machines with temperatures up to 203°F (95°C) Please follow the instructions of the machine-manufacturer. After cleaning, all instruments should be dried immediately. Treat all instruments with oil which is considered as being physiologically safe (paraffin oil according to DAB 8 of Ph.Eur. or USP XX), especially their blades ends, stops, snaps and movable parts. Tubes must be blown out.
Sterilization
For all instruments without other indications, steam autoclave sterilization with 270°F (132°C) for 15 minutes is recommended. Other temperatures and terms should be validated by the autoclave manufacturer. Sterilization temperatures should not exceed 280°F (137°C). The instructions of the autoclave manufacturer must be observed also. Sterilization with hot-air-or flash-autoclave are not recommended, because isolations or non metal handles may be destroyed.
Handling
All surgical instruments should be treated with the greatest care while transportation, cleaning, sterilization and storing. Avoid contact with aggressive material. This may cause rust and malfunction, even destroying. This information is valid for all instruments made of high grade instrument steel, without other instructions. For very sensitive instruments as Micro-Instruments, electrosurgical instruments and endoscopes the separate indications on the packing or on additional manuals must be followed. Improper use, repair by third parties and modifications void guarantee and CE-Marking.
